Swedish week: I Break Horses “Hearts”

Continuing our swedish week theme over here, we bring you I Break Horses, a band from Stockholm formed by Maria Lindén and her musical partner Fredrik Balck. They have been working on their 9 track debut album called Hearts, a record that will see a late August release on Bella Union. Heavily (and openly) influenced by the sounds of My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins and The Jesus & Mary Chain, I Break Horses’ music is both aimed at your pulse and at you heart. The heart is, according to the band, the common thread that links their nine songs together, always present and always beating, with their sound’s strength and presence being guided entirely by it. The first single is the album’s title track and you can download it for free here. Full on reverb, pattern drums and  juxtapositions, Hearts is somewhere between the romantic and the explosive and it ends up being the perfect introduction into their musical landscape. A band we’ll be keeping an eye on for the rest of 2011.
